Hi! I’m Mikaela.
I love enjoying the small things in life, learning something new every day, and immersing myself in a good book. My approach to editing is the same as how I approached my previous career as a scientist; with a natural curiosity, an eagle eye for details, and a love of working with unique people.
My passion for reading began at a young age, and while I’m certain I’ve read a representative sample of nearly every genre of literature, I’ve always been drawn to stories of adventure, joy, and growth in the face of challenge. These traits have brought me time and again back to fantasy and romance, which is why I’m so pleased to work within these genres and help your story get told.
matter?
Why
With uses and definitions spanning science, law, and general purpose, “matter” is a truly interesting word. Think of it like this; at its most basic, matter can describe the component parts of what everything is made of. It’s also used to define a subject or circumstance (“the matter at hand”).
While I like both of these descriptions, my favourite way to think of this word is how it is used most generally in our day-to-day conversations; a statement of opinion or fact, with a deep, meaningful subtext. What’s the matter? What matters most to you?
I chose Matter because it holds so much meaning for me. Helping people tell stories that connect readers all around the world? That matters to me.
Whether you’re writing your first novel or your hundredth, your story matters. Your voice matters. You matter.
